Profile

What is a profile?

A profile is a definition of structure and expression format that consists of the following two.

  • Metamodel ・・・ Items to be designed and their structure definition
  • View definition...Definition format definition of model created based on metamodel

A profile is equivalent to the document template or figure notation in which the chapter structure is defined in the conventional design document. Profiles can be defined for each standard design method, or can be defined independently based on the characteristics of the target product and the in-house design know-how.

Profile

Relationship between project and profile

Next Design projects are modeled on profiles. By modeling based on the profile, it is possible to design according to the items to be designed and their structure, and the notation can be unified, so it is possible to prevent omissions of design items, structural errors, and misalignment.

Furthermore, standardizing the profile for each design target, team, and organization, and using the profile in common for multiple projects leads to stable design quality and essential quality improvement.

Project and Profile

Profile use cases

The general operation procedure of the profile is as follows.

  1. Standardization promoter creates a project with a defined profile
  2. Standardization promoter exports the defined profile from the project and publishes it.
  3. Designer creates a new project with the published profile
  4. Designer models design target according to profile

If the standardizer drives a profile update, the profile update can be reflected in the project by deploying the updated profile and the designer re-importing the updated profile.
